Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer with 8+ years of proven expertise in building and scaling robust services.

This role is ideal for someone with deep knowledge of C#, .NET, Azure Cloud, and Azure DevOps, combined with strong debugging and performance optimisation skills.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will lead the development of scalable backend systems that drive the company's mission forward. You will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while demonstrating extreme ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop high-performance, scalable backend systems using C# and .NET.
• Lead design discussions and implement best practices for service-oriented architectures and microservices.
• Drive the evolution of the existing platform by leveraging cutting-edge technologies and strategies to ensure a future-proof and scalable infrastructure.
• Ensure high-quality unit and integration testing where required.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues, with a strong emphasis on debugging.
• Optimise system performance through proactive analysis, code reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and observability tooling.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise across teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps, QA, and Product Managers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to agile processes and drive continuous improvement in development methodologies and practices.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending new tools and practices to enhance the technical stack.
• Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap of backend services.

Must Have:

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong experience with C# and .NET.
• Strong experience with Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with Azure services including Key Vault, App Configuration, queueing products, and ADB2C.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and serverless computing.
• Extensive database design experience across SQL and NoSQL.
• Extensive experience with caching strategies.
• Strong understanding of codebase architecture, code organisation, and relevant design patterns.

Good to Have:

• Previous experience in the FinTech or PropTech industry.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or frameworks.
• Azure or other cloud-related certifications.
• Programming experience in related languages such as Golang or TypeScript.
• AWS cloud-native experience.
