About the Role
Our client is looking for an Algorithms Engineer to design and develop scalable software solutions that enhance business operations and client experience. This role is suited to a technically curious problem-solver who enjoys building efficient algorithms, learning new technologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement algorithms and software solutions to solve complex business challenges
- Build scalable, maintainable and high-quality code within an appropriate software technology stack
- Analyse existing systems and identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability and efficiency
- Research and rapidly learn new technologies to solve previously unseen technical problems
- Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders and end-users to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure solutions are secure, reliable and aligned with engineering best practices
- Consider system performance, infrastructure costs, maintainability and long-term scalability when designing solutions
- Produce clear technical documentation and communicate progress, recommendations and technical concepts effectively
- Contribute to code reviews, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support cross-functional collaboration while helping to reduce key-person dependency through mentoring and knowledge transfer
Skills & Competencies
- Strong algorithmic thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent software development and coding skills
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to balance technical requirements with business objectives
- Understanding of software architecture, scalability, system performance and distributed systems
- Knowledge of security, authentication and secure system design principles
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to engineering best practices
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related field
- Proven experience in software engineering, backend development, algorithm development or a similar engineering role
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, Java, Go or C++
- Experience designing and developing scalable, maintainable software solutions
- Experience working with cloud technologies and distributed systems is advantageous
- Experience working in Agile software development environments is advantageous
